Akshata Surej

Akshata is an Atlas Corps Fellow and a seasoned communications professional with expertise in strategic communications, building partnerships, advocacy, and brand strategy in the social impact space. She believes a purpose-oriented approach is key to driving actionable outcomes.

In her current role, she contributes to the team by providing strategic research, analytical insights, and fostering partner relations in strategy development, advocacy, coalition building, and strategic communications.

Previously, she led the Ecosystem Development function at Villgro (an impact-first social enterprise incubator), with a focus on brand strategy, where she passionately advocated for market-based innovations in India. Her diverse background includes supporting the India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians, Ministry of External Affairs to launch initiatives for overseas Indians to contribute to social and development projects in India.

Akshata holds both a bachelor's and master's degree in philosophy from the University of Delhi. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, experimenting with desserts, and reading.
